SEAL
SEALNavy Basic Underwater Demolition School/SEALHes exhausted. His muscles ache beyond belief and his body is chilled to the bone. His heart is pumping a mile a minute after having just maneuvered through an obstacle course that would challenge the most agile of men. He knew it wouldnt be easy, having read articles about the quiet professionals, and listened to stories about the toughest military training in the world from guys who had gone through the training before him. He tells himself he can make it, over and over again. This Sailor wants to be a U.S. Navy SEAL. He and a select group of Sailors are going through this arduous training at the Naval Special Warfare Center (NSWC), Coronado, Calif. Currently, requirements are being revamped and instructions revised so that the graduates of Basic Underwater Demolition School/SEAL (BUD/S) are even more prepared to take on the ever-changing responsibilities of a SEAL operation. Changes include incorporating more operationally specific e volutions earlier in the learning process. And while some Sailors can and some Sailors cant, NSWC is making efforts to keep the number of the can dos to a maximum. Recent changes (April 2001) at BUD/S are aimed at producing graduates who have an enhanced repertoire of SEAL skills, ready for use upon arrival at an operational SEAL team. The centerpiece of all the changes is an intense effort to operationalize BUD/S training. In essence, the training center has done away with some outdated methods and introduced more basic training found currently at the SEAL team level. You have to want the program. And mentally, never give yourself the option to quit, said Master Chief Information Systems Technician Dennis Wilbanks, head SEAL recruiter who, with more than 25 years in the SPECWAR community, has seen hundreds of Sailors come and go through BUD/S. The 25-week curriculum at BUD/S is divided into three phases that test the Sailors spirit and stamina. The first eight-week phase is known a s the physical conditioning phase, and places a strong emphasis on running, swimming, navigating the obstacle course and basic water and lifesaving skills. This phase pushes the body to its physical and mental limits. Trained medical technicians and instructors are with the students at every step. Having endured the complexity of First l, trainees move on to their next big obstacle - diving. Second Phase is seven weeks in length and emphasizes the skills required to be a Naval Special Warfare combat swimmer. While it is imperative the student meets the standards set before him, said Intelligence Specialist 2nd Class Matthew Peterson, second phase instructor. We look for the individual who possesses the ability to perform safely and effectively under stressful conditions. Finally, the 10-week long Third Phase is the last hurdle these Sailors face before graduation. This land warfare phase turns Sailors into hardcore, cutting edge naval commandos. Third Phase is comparable to First Ph ase in that you are often cold, miserable and tired, said Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 2nd Class Louis G. Fernbough, Third Phase instructor. The difference is, we now expect you to think and perform mentally under the same conditions. Mistakes made when working with explosives only happen once. While all three phases have their individual objectives, they all share common physical evolutions including running, swimming and the obstacle courses. Required passing times become more challenging as the training progresses, though. First Phase includes some of the most significant training revisions, where the most dreaded week of BUD/S, Hell Week (featuring 120 hours of continuous training on less than four hours of sleep), has been moved from the fifth week of First Phase to the third week. The shift allowed the addition of a maritime operations course, as well as basic patrolling and weapons handhabung courses. All instruction (as opposed to just physical training) takes place after H ell Week, said LTJG Joe Burns, First Phase officer-in-charge and former enlisted SEAL. The majority of students who complete Hell Week are going to graduate, said Burns. This schedule shift also means that drown-proofing and underwater knot tying will now be held after Hell Week. The techniques and skills that are taught in these areas are a crucial element in being both comfortable and proficient in underwater evolutions. This change is expected to be a confidence-booster since it allows the students to practice their knot-tying skills before they are actually tested. Especially when the test is being able to tie a knot at a 50-foot depth. Second Phase has undergone a few key changes. The number of training dives, both day and night, has significantly increased and the complexity of the dives is more challenging to the students with multiple legs and more realistic targets. This requires students to navigate and change directions underwater several times, rather than just once. Fur thermore, the pool competency evolution, perhaps the most difficult evolution at BUD/S, next to Hell Week, has been modified to better support those students who demonstrate basic skills underwater. As CAPT Ed Bowen, commanding officer of the NSWC points out, I am seeking the man who has the basic aptitude, attitude, and motivation to be a SEAL. If a young man can remain calm while great stress is induced underwater, I will not drop him from training for a minuscule technical glitch. More changes have been implemented as students move into the final phase of BUD/S training. Emphasis in Third Phase is placed on small unit tactics, patrolling, weapons trainingand demolition, giving students a feel for what to expect once they have earned their special warfare pin and been deemed a SEAL. Attention is placed now, more than ever, on the basic SEAL combat skills required of effective SEAL platoon operators. One goal of the revisions is to qualify all students on the M-4 rifle as Marksman. Since the changes have been in effect, all students have qualified as Marksman and most (60 percent) as Expert. Students also spend increased training hours on special reconnaissance, a key SEAL mission area. Less emphasis is now placed on the old Underwater Demolition Team reconnaissance and demolition techniques. Core SEAL mission profiles are now highlighted, including increased rehearsals with Immediate Action Drills (IADs), Over-The-Beach (OTB) scenarios and ambush techniques. Ultimately, we are seeking a candidate that we can entrust with the life of a fellow Frogman, said Peterson. The final change in Third Phase is a new live-fire Field Training Exercise, which provides the most realistic scenario possible without entering a real-world combat situation. The physical, emotional and mental challenges young men must endure becoming a member of Americas most elite maritimespecial operations forcearent getting any easier. But officials at the Naval Special Warfare Center hope tha t recent changes made at the basic schoolhouse will ultimately result in more skilled operators arriving at the SEAL teams. The overall response from both the instructors and trainees has been extremely positive and only time will tell if the changes accomplish both goals to improve the skills and abilities of a BUD/S graduate while graduating more trainees.

How Long Should A Resume Be
How Long Should A Resume BeHow Long Should A Resume BeDoes My Resume Need to be One Page? One of the most common questions our teamatResumeSpicehears from job seekers is some variation of I heard that a resume needs to be one page. Is that true? The short answer is no. Somewhere along the line, a hiring manager must have expressed a strong preference for one page resumes and all across the candidate landscape, the mythology took off. And it stuck in candidates heads. The reality is that we have yet to encounter a hiring manager, human resources executive, or anyone else in a hiring position who has ever rejected a candidate because their resume welches more than one page.So how long should a resume be?Again with a short answer as long as it needs to be to effectively, yet concisely, communicate a candidates background and experience. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend the followingNew grad 1 pageTwo years of experience 1 to 1.5 pagesTwo to ten years of experience 1 to 2 pagesTe n or more years of experience 1.5 to 3 pagesImportant caveat the above should be used as a guide, as every candidates situation is different. For example, a job seeker with ten years of experience, who has a college degree and who has held one job their entire career, may be able to fit their entire work history in one page. Conversely, a job seeker with four years of experience may require two pages in order to fit their college degree, advanced degree, multiple internships while in school, and the responsibilities and accomplishments from two different work positions. Can a resume be too long?Yes. In very rare instances is there a need for a resume to go beyond three pages. A resume, unlike a traditional CV (curriculum vitae), is not a complete summary of ones work history. Rather, its a document that highlights ones career and education, focusing on the parts most relevant for a particular role.Hopefully that helps clarify a very common question. The Challenger Sales Model
The Challenger Sales ModelThe Challenger Sales ModelSales models and approaches come and go. What may have been the hottest and most widely used sales approach a few years ago is now considered old-fashioned. This short lifespan is caused by industry trends, external influences, and the general economy. In the book The Challenger Sale, authors Matthew Dixon and Brent Adamson present a model that stands to send most others into antiquity. The Challenger Sale For years, sales professionals believed that the key to success in sales was building relationships with their clients and prospects. The theory was solid and based on the old belief that if customers like a rep, they will find a reason and a way to buy from that rep. And if they didnt like a rep, they would find a reason and a way bedrngnis to buy from that rep. For the most part, this logic holds true. People do like to buy from people they like, but the problem is customers are busy, well-ingestalted, and have too many opti ons. Further, investing time in a relationship is less effective when buyers can no longer base a decision on how well they like (or dislike) the sales professional. The Challenger Sale authors suggest that while relationships are important, their three-part sales model offers a better approach. Teach The Challenger Sales Model begins with the importance of a sales rep bringing new information or a different way of doing things to their customers and prospects. The buying public has ample resources from which to garner information and often know much more about your product than you might believe. They also know, in many cases, the same about your competitors offerings. Buyers know their business and the challenges they are binnenseeking to overcome when considering making a purchase. If a sales professional focuses on why this product is better than the competitions or assumes that the client is most likely unaware of problems or challenges that this product solves the rep is w asting the clients precious time and is bringing nothing new to the bargaining table. However, if the rep informs the customer of how common industry challenges have been solved with a different approach and teaches them about unique features that his product or company offers, then the customer will see the time invested as valuable. The more valuable a rep, the more likely it is that a sale will be made. Tailor The next part of the Challenger Sales Model is for the sales professional to tailor a solution to meet the specific needs of a customer. It demands a blend of creativity and flexibility in the product or service offered. The creative part comes from the sales rep, and the flexibility is something that a product/service either has or doesnt have. However, a product/service that at first does not appear to have any flexibility may still be tailored to a customer. The flexibility could come in the form of customized financing, for example, or could require a customization of the entire manufacturing process. The key to tailoring a solution begins with the rep having a thorough understanding of the customers needs. Take Control The final part of the Challenger Sale is for the sales professional to take control of the sales cycle. It is more common than unusual for a sales professional to encounter objections and resistance from a customer. While traditional sales models suggest that each customer objection is treated and viewed as a legitimate concern of the customer, the Challenger Sales model teaches that unreasonable or unrealistic customer questions/demands/objections are best handled by the sales professional being firm, authentic and by challenging the customer to keep it real. This approach requires courage, confidence, and plenty of skill A trifecta of traits that are the envy of most every sales manager in the world.

Unfair Competition Laws Definition and Examples
Unfair Competition Laws Definition and ExamplesUnfair Competition Laws Definition and ExamplesUnfair competition is a term that applies to dishonest or fraudulent rivalry in trade and commerce. Its a branch of intellectual property law that particularly relates to the practice of endeavoring to substitute ones own goods or products in the market for those of anotherfor the purpose of deceiving the public. But it can take some other forms as well. Elements of Unfair Competition Think of unfair competition as a large umbrella that covers a variety of actions, although most actions fall within one of two categories. The term is sometimes used to address only circumstances where consumers have been duped or misled. This kind of activity is also sometimes referred to as deceptive trade practices. In fact, unfair competition includes these actions as well as others designed to restrict or alter a companys revenue. In all cases, the activity can legally give rise to a tort action. That is, the wrongful act is such that the perpetrator can and should be held civilly liable in a court of law. Some forms of unfair competition are crimes as well. What Unfair Competition Isnt Unfair doesnt mean the same thing in every situation. Unfair competition can have different connotations in various business settings and depending upon the nature of the commerce. Unfair competition in a retail store setting can be a far different practice than what a pharmaceutical company might engage in. It should also be noted that unfair competition typically does not refer to antitrust legislation or monopolies. The Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act addresses specific types of unfair competition recognized by different states. How Unfair Competition Happens According to Blacks Law Dictionary, this type of deception is commonly accomplished by ...imitating or counterfeiting the name, title, size, color scheme, patterns, shape or distinctive peculiarities of an article. It can als o occur by imitating the shape, color, label, wrapper or general appearance of the package in such a way as to mislead the general public or deceive an unwary purchaser. Acts of unfair competition are generally characterized by deception, schwimmbad faith, fraud, or oppression- the competition is such that the victim is thwarted or prevented from successfully engaging in trade. Theyre perceived as being against public policy because of their tendency to unduly hinder competition and this affects the greater good of the public. Unfair competition laws have been established to protect consumers and businesses and to help prevent illegal merchandising. Some Examples of Unfair Competition Trademark infringement, such as using the Coca-Cola trademark on a soda container manufactured by a competing beverage maker, is an example of unfair competition, as isfalse advertising. This might involve making false claims about a drugs abilities to promote weight loss. Unauthorized substitution of one brand of goods for another is an example of unfair competition as well. This could involve substituting a low-cost handbag for a designer handbag. It could also meanfalse advertising or false representation of products or services, such as exaggerating a software programs spellcheck capabilities. In either case, consumers are not getting what they thought they were paying for. Bait-and-switch tacticsare another example of an unfair competition practice that directly affects consumers. Say that a product in high demand is advertised at a very reasonable price. Shoppers flock into the store to purchase the item only to be told that its now sold out. But the shopper can purchase a similar model for just a few dollars more- and unsuspecting consumers will often do so. Bait and switch is actually a crime in some states, particularly when the advertised item was never in stock in the first place. Misappropriation of trade secrets is another common instance of unfair competition, suc h as stealing a competitors proprietary formula. Consider an employee who is entrusted with or stumbles upon the exact recipe for KFCs chicken batter. He then rents a nahe daran sein food restaurant establishment and begins selling chicken on his own using that same recipe. In this same area, trade defamation might involve disseminating written or oral communications designed to harm or ruin a businesss reputation. Below-cost sellingoccurs when a company intentionally and willingly sells a product or service to consumers for less than market rate. A retail seller might actually charge consumers less than what it paid for an item, taking a loss. Another company might sell one or more of its services at a rate that virtually ensures it cannot make money. This type of situation is often temporary and is done with the intention of snagging business away from competitors who cant or who are unwilling to compete. The reward comes down the road when the company selling below cost increases its market share. Dumpingis a similar concept. It involves selling products abroad for far less than what they would fetch in a local market. Why? Importing governments often offer several enticements including subsidies and cash incentives. The World Trade Organization is generally fine with this practice. Rumor Mongeringis exactly what it sounds like- maligning a competitor through written or oral communications, often placed strategically with the press and other outlets. Some of these examples, such as making false claims about a drugs abilities, technically fall under the umbrella of unfair trade practices, which is a component of unfair competition law. State vs. Federal Laws For the most part, issues of unfair competition are addressed in state courts. A successful suit brought in state court might result in an order of monetary damages, an injunction against the guilty party continuing with such actions, or both. Federal law covers copyrights and trademarks, however, so cases involving these issues can and sometimes do find their way to federal court. Federal law prevails when federal and state laws conflict. Unfair competition law does not simply protect businesses nor is it solely the domain of large corporations. Small business owners and individual consumers can be hurt as well, as in bait-and-switch cases and instances involving unauthorized substitution. The Federal Trade Commission has become involved in cases where consumers were harmed or lost money, such as in cases of false advertising. Unfair competition laws are backed by the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution. This clause allows Congress to address these types of fraudulent acts. The Uniform Trade Secrets Act has also been adopted by numerous states to deal with misappropriation of trade secrets.

11 Science-Backed Ways to Help Yourself Wake Up Early [Infographic]
11 Science-Backed Ways to Help Yourself Wake Up Early Infographic I am not a morning person, and while I think Im pretty good at my job, Id probably better at it if I were.Biologist Christoph Randler, who has studied theeffects of being a morning person, says those who are most energetic in the morning are better positioned for career success. When it comes to business success, morning people hold the important cards, Randler told Harvard Business Review in 2010. My earlier research showed that they tend to get better grades in school, which get them into better colleges, which then lead to better job opportunities. Morning people also anticipate problems and try to minimize them, my survey showed. Theyre proactive. A number of studies have linked this trait, proactivity, with better job performance, greater career success, and higher wages.I dont know about you, but that koranvers makes me want to become a morning person which is why I likethis new i nfographic from online lender CashNetUSA. It outlines a few of the psychological and business benefits of being an early riser and offers 11 science-backed ways to teach yourself to love mornings a little more. Check it out below

MEMS Vibrational Micro Power Generation
MEMS Vibrational Micro Power Generation MEMS Vibrational Micro Power Generation MEMS Vibrational Micro Power GenerationNew devices are adapting to the vibrations in their environments to generate energy. Many sensors and wireless technologies have very low power needs so that micro-watts of power or less are now sufficient for measuring and transmitting small amounts of data to a receiver or dashboard nearby.Vibrational energy harvesting (VEH) with micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) is helping power what many consider the ultimate goal wireless, battery-free, autonomous sensing, monitoring, and reporting.Powering wireless sensors and networks with VEH power sources is being considered for use and is being field tested in many applications in which other ambient energy sources like solar or thermal are not available industries such as structural monitoring, roads bridges, industrial process control, appliances, environmental, human power, aerospace, machine monitoring, home autom ation, or automotive. Many different MEMS VEH device designs and processes have demonstrated that sufficient power can be harvested to wirelessly beam data or charge a battery using mainly electrostatic or piezoelectric (and less often electromagnetic) techniques. Typically a moving mass/spring assembly is tuned to operate and return the fruchtwein power at specific frequencies. MEMS devices and technologies have gathered and transformed ambient mechanical vibrations to electrical energy when vibrations occur within a narrow range of frequencies. But most real-world devices start and stop, run at varying speeds, and have varying vibration profiles.Vibrational ChallengesThe challenge of vibrational energy harvesters has been to find the right device tuned for the specific frequency, and getting enough power out of those frequencies for long enough, says Steve Grady from Cymbet Corporation, power management provider for sensors integrated with MEMS VEH and other energy harvesting techno logies. The holy grail of vibration harvesting would be a broadband or broad-frequency device whose power harvesting ability doesnt fall off quickly around a resonant frequency to continue to capture power as vibration conditions change, Grady says. Using arrays of harvesters each tuned to a slightly different frequency is costly.Creative SolutionsMEMS VEH designs, therefore, are improving. In a recent report, Dibin Zhu and others from the University of Southampton, UK, summarized and discussed strategies publicly available in literature for extending vibrational frequency ranges of micro-range VEH that use mass spring systems. They are toperiodically tune the system with mechanical or electrical methods, consuming power intermittently or continuouslywiden the bandwidth by using a generator array, a mechanical stopper, nonlinear (e.g., magnetic) springs, or bi-stable structures.Researchers at the CEA-Laboratory for Electronics Information Technology, Grenoble, France, adopted piezoe lectric tuning with an active powered feedback loop into their electrostatic VEH and reported that the device automatically tunes the system to increase their bandwidth by a range of up to 30% of the resonant frequency, at the cost of less than 5 micro-watts. They also implemented nonlinear springs thatimproved the vibration amplitude as well as frequency range.MicroGen Systems, Inc., Ithaca, NY also plans to implement tuning and other patented strategies to increase frequency bandwidth into future versions of their piezoelectric MEMS V energy harvesters, according to Robert Andosca, the companys founder, president, and CTO. The engineering samples they currently offer are designed for specific frequencies (plus or minus 2 Hz) and acceleration levels of vibrations the device will experience. As the only commercial company in the world producing MEMS VEH, according to Andosca, MicroGen Systems is expecting to release and sell second rev demonstration kits in summer of 2011 and high ba ndwidth products in 2012. With these improvements, MEMS VEH products are becoming more viable for commercial use.Debbie Sniderman is a consultant, an engineer, and a contributing writer to Mechanical Engineering. The challenge of vibrational energy harvesters has been to find the right device tuned for the specific frequency, and getting enough power out of those frequencies for long enough.Steve Grady, Cymbet Corporation

Eleven General Orders of the Sentry
Eleven General Orders of the SentryEleven General Orders of the SentryIn the Navy and Marine Corps, there are eleven General Orders of a Sentry, also known as General Orders of the Watch. The Army and Air Force have condensed these eleven orders into three. Who Needs to Know the Orders of a Sentry? These are the rules the gate guards, duty officers, and officers of the watch must abide by when on guard duty. Their job is to protect the base or area on the base where people and property reside. Failure to adhere to these standards can cause big problems for you as an individual. Or worse, negligence can result in immense damage to people or property. The Eleven General Orders of a Sentry as listed in the Navys DEP(Delayed Enlistment Program)study guide are below. During boot camp, recruits will be required to quote any one of, or all of the Eleven General Orders ofthe Sentry from memory anytime, anywhere and to anyone. When Recruits Should Learn the Orders of a Sentry Recruits should learn the Eleven General Orders of a Sentry while inDEPprior to departure for Recruit Training. This will give them an advantage over others in their division and will provide some valuable time to perform additional required items for the first few days in boot camp. The Navy version below is slightly different than theMarine Corps version(mostly because ranks and titles differ between the Navy and USMC), and a whole lot different than theArmy version. Standing duty, standing guard, guarding your deutsche bundespost, or standing watch all are terms used by the military to mean that you are the person to holdsecurityfor that area for that particular time. Navy General Orders of the Sentry To take charge of this post and all government property in view.To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert, and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing. To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce. To repeat all calls from pos ts more distant from theguard housethan my own.To quit my post only when properly relieved. To receive, obey and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders from the Commanding Officer, Command Duty Officer, Officer of the Deck, and Officers and Petty Officers of the Watch only. To talk to no one except in the line of duty.To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder. To call the Officer of the Deck in any case not covered by instructions. To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased. To be especially watchful at night, and, during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post and to allow no one to pass without proper authority. Army General Orders of the Sentry I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved.. I will obey my special orders and perform all of my duties in a military manner.I will report violations of my special orders, emergencies, and anything not covered in my instru ctions to the commander of the relief. Marine General Orders of the Sentry Take charge of this post and all government property in view.Walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.Report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce. To repeat all calls from postsmore distant from the guardhouse than my own.Quit my post only when properly relieved. To receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders from the Commanding Officer, Officer of the Day, Officers, and Non-Commissioned Officers of the guard only. Talk to no one except in the line of duty.It is all business when on duty.Give the alarm in case of fire or disorder. To call the Corporal of the Guard in any case not covered by instructions.Salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased.Be especially watchful at night and during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post, and to al low no one to pass without proper authority.

How to Create a Book Marketing and Publicity Campaign
How to Create a Book Marketing and Publicity CampaignHow to Create a Book Marketing and Publicity CampaignCreating a book marketing and publicity plan is necessary for all authors, whether your publisher is a traditional house or youre trying to self-publish. Authors who set up some personal market tactics to execute, whether standalone efforts or those in tandem with their publisher, sell more copies. A strategic publicity and marketing campaign helps spread the du sagst es about your finished book. When youre the publisher, its obviously critical to devise your own detailed plan for your books publicity and marketing. But even when a traditional publisher is releasing your book, paying attention to publicity and marketing is critical. The book marketing department and the publicity department sometimes have dozens of other books to be concerned with, so your efforts as an author to create opportunities are important to the books success. Pre-Publication Platform The books launc h is really important to give it sales momentum. To set up a proper launch, a year or more before the books publication, lay the groundwork for the books publication. For example, you should Establish an online presence. At minimum, produce a website and create an author Facebook page for your book. EstablishTwitter and Instagram accounts to help get yourself out there.Set yourself up on other social media sites that apply to your book, such as Goodreads.com, Pinterest if your book is visual, etc.Try to guest blog or be interviewed on websites and podcasts that align with your books target audience. Network Publishers ask authors to utilize all their contacts with a tool called the author questionnaire, which helps gather all the resources an author brings to the marketing and publicity campaign. It could be as grand as having a media platform like a radio show, or as modest as finding a college alumni magazine willing to make an announcement about your books publication. The que stionnaire will help you put on your thinking cap about your friends and family who might be useful the friend of a friend who writes for the local newspaper, or your cousin who owns a caf and might be willing to host a book launch event. Publicity Planning Especially if youre doing your own marketing and publicity, find a solid newsworthy reason for the press to pay attention to you believe it or not, the fact that you published a book doesnt qualify as news to most media. Note that if book publicists work on your book, they will most likely take care of most of this but it doesnt hurt to be informed as to the process. Use an existing event as a media hook for your book.Craft a great press release for your book using your strategy.Create a list of media contacts and bloggers who might be interested.Attend major book conferences and be on panels. Promotional Materials zugnglich promotion is most important. Book trailers can be inexpensive to produce, practically free to distribute, and best of all, are easy to share. People who find your book trailer, or the book it describes, appealing, may spread the word with their own networks. You never know who you might run into, so have information about your book handy a business card with your website address and social media handles, a postcard to send to friends and media outlets these can help your book get noticed. Execute Your Plan Self-published authors need to reach out to media and event venues to set up readings, book signings, or talks. You might also hire a freelance book PR pro to help you. Either way, its good to start with at least some idea of the publicity avenues available to you as an author schmelzglas your press release to your media list follow up within a weekOrganize a book launch eventReach out to book festival organizersAlert your social media network, as well as your offline networkSet up readings and signings with local and regional bookstores Making a solid pre-publicatio n marketing and publicity plan and following it through might not be as glamorous as writing a book, but they are important steps toward sharing your book with the world.
